I have extensive experience working with kids and teens from my time as a full-time nanny to my four years running the Junior Volunteer Program and giving humane education tours at the Animal Protective League. I've been a substitute teacher for Virginia Beach Schools and an AVID tutor for District 186, and I currently speak in classrooms and on college campuses about human/animal rights and environmental activism. In addition to private tutoring, I also oversee a free creative writing club for teens at Lincoln Library twice monthly. My love for inspiring learning and my many years of experience working with people of all ages, give me a unique perspective and set of skills to help my students excel at whatever academic challenges they may face!

Pre-school & Kindergarten Students: $20 per hour
The biggest needs for most pre-school and kindergarten kids are writing practice and beginner reading lessons. But we can also start on early math, art, science, or anything else your little one may be interested in or struggling to understand. Young children between 3 and 5 years old benefit from the one-on-one attention tutoring can provide. And best of all, because we meet in your home and because my lessons are all about making learning fun and engaging, most kids don't even realize they're being schooled!
Elementary Students: $25 per hour (+$10/subject/semester for personalized lesson plans/quizzes)
The hourly tutoring fee includes general homework and study help for current school-based subjects including but not limited to elementary level maths, sciences, reading, language arts (phonics, spelling, writing, grammar), social studies, and beginner typing. We will also work on establishing good independent study habits and creating fun learning goals to help your kids develop a love for learning and to give them the preparation they need to tackle more challenging coursework in the future. If more comprehensive lessons than what the school sends home are needed, the fee is $10 per subject per semester.
Middle & High School Students: $30 per hour (+$15/subject/semester for personalized lesson plans/quizzes)
The hourly tutoring fee includes general homework and study help for current school-based subjects including but not limited to middle and high school language arts, literature, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, US history, world history, economics, speech/debate, typing, and basic computer skills. My math tutoring is limited to geometry, algebra I & II, and pre-calculus only. If more comprehensive lessons than what the school sends home are needed, the fee is $15 per subject per semester. For 6th-12th grade students I also utilize my AVID tutoring experience, which, as a college-prep tool, helps to improve organizational skills, to establish good independent study habits, and to encourage pre-teens and teens to challenge themselves academically. This hourly rate also includes help with college applications/essays and applying for financial aid and scholarships.
PSAT/SAT Prep: $30 per hour
Are you or your child getting ready to take the PSAT or SAT? I've got you covered! The hourly rate includes lessons and practice tests for both verbal and math. In addition, if you are not happy with your score the first time around, I'll give you two free sessions to prepare to take your test again!
GED (General Education Degree/Diploma) Prep: $30 per hour
The GED is a High School diploma equivalency exam. It tests for proficiency in High School level science, mathematics, social studies, reading, and writing. And I offer a GED special... all you pay up front is a one-time $20 deposit at the time of your first tutoring session. You will not be required to pay the balance of your total bill until AFTER you pass the GED! That means you can schedule as many tutoring hours as you need to feel fully prepared for the test, and only pay the bill IF you pass. So I don't get paid unless you pass, and that's my guarantee that I will do everything in my power to make sure you ace it!
CLEP (College Level Examination Program) Prep: $30 per hour + $10 per subject
These sessions are for those preparing for CLEP college entrance exams. These exams are offered by the college board as a way for students to "test out" of taking certain required classes in subjects such as American Literature, College Composition, English Literature, Humanities, American Government, US History, Human Growth & Development, Psychology, Sociology, Western Civilization, Chemistry, College Mathematics, College Algebra, Natural Sciences, Pre-calculus, and more. The rate includes access to the CLEP Official Study Guide for all 33 offered exams, individual subject exam guides, unlimited practice questions, and one-on-one lessons and study help. For students with a solid understanding of the subject matter, 1-2 hours of tutoring per subject is typically sufficient preparation for most exams. CLEP exam registration is $80/subject through the college board website. Each exam may only be taken one time, and each college or university has different requirements for minimum passing scores. However, an important benefit of tutoring with me is that I can assess your readiness and your chances of passing before you spend the money on the test! If I recommend that you take a CLEP exam, and you do NOT receive a minimum passing score, I WILL PAY YOU the $80 exam fee!
College Students: $35 per hour (+$20/subject/semester for personalized lesson plans/quizzes)
The hourly tutoring fee includes general homework and study help for current college students or for those preparing for college courses. Subjects include but are not limited to college-level introductory courses such as English composition, literature, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, geology, statistics, psychology, sociology, philosophy, communications, art appreciation, music appreciation, US history, world history, political science, economics, public speaking, typing, and computer skills. My math tutoring is limited to geometry, algebra I & II, and pre-calculus only. I may be able to help with more advanced courses on a case-by-case basis.
ESL/EFL (English as a Second/Foreign Language): $35 per hour
As a certified TEFL/TESOL instructor, I offer dynamic and engaging lessons to help speakers of other languages learn and improve their English speaking, reading, and writing skills. We'll also focus on understanding cultural differences and adapting in social situations. The training and practice will not only improve your abilities but also your confidence! These sessions are not only offered locally in Central Illinois, but I have many hours of experience teaching online via Skype video sessions and can cater to different time zones as needed.
Adult Basic Computer Skills: $50 for the first two-hour session, then $40 per hour
In the first two-hour session, we'll go over some basics like computer parts and vocab, keyboard shortcuts, internet browsing, setting up an email address, and how to use popular apps and programs like Microsoft Word to create documents and Google Maps to find directions. I will also be able to address any specific needs you may have and answer questions. Two hours is usually enough time for most clients to understand the basics, but if you feel you have more to learn, I offer continued training at the $40/hr rate.
Adult Web-Building Workshop: $100 for the first two-hour session, then $50 per hour
Want to tackle building your own website? I offer training on how to use basic "drag & drop" builders to create something awesome! Most clients are ready to start building a simple website on their own after the first two hour session, but if you feel you have more to learn, I offer continued training at the $50/hr rate. Keep in mind, while building a simple, small site is not difficult, larger, more complex sites can be extremely time-consuming. If your time is limited, consider hiring me to build a beautiful, efficient website for you! Check out my web design packages HERE.
For ALL tutoring options, book six hours, and the seventh hour is FREE! Also, for regular clients, receive a $15 referral credit on your next bill for each new client that books a paid tutoring session. Just have them mention your name, and I'll credit your account!
